Professor Dr. Peter Poschlod, a renowned expert on the subject, analyzes and describes the mechanisms and processes that led to the development of the Central European cultural landscape and its habitat and species diversity. The factors considered include climate, diseases, wars, intellectual movements, technological advancements, economic changes, as well as legislation and politics. Selected habitats and species are presented as a result of historical processes.
Prof. Dr. Peter Poschlod studied biology in Ulm. He received his doctorate at TUM-Weihenstephan and habilitated at the University of Hohenheim. From 1994 to 2001, he was a professor for Scientific Nature Conservation at the Philipps University of Marburg, and since 2001, he has held the Chair of Botany at the University of Regensburg.
